When you own a big BMW, you must be prepared to have it/parts of it destroyed every now and then, at least if you live in a country like Denmark, where jealousy and envy is the order of the day.
During the 12 months I owned it, the following happened to my BMW:
- An open beer bottle was inserted and thereby emptied into the exhaust.
- Chrome strip on right rear door destroyed in an attempt to break into the car.
- Dent in right rear door - probably caused by another car door being smashed into it.
- Lock on gas cap lid destroyed and lid forced open. Cap removed and some kind of liquid poured into gas tank.
- Part of front license plate holder broken off - maybe caused by a car backing into me?
- Gravel spread all across the hood - lots of scratches was the result.
- Rear bumper way out of alignment. Looks like it has been torn out of place. It took a lot of power to bring it back into place.
- Less than a week later, the front bumper was given same treatment.
Before the BMW, I drove a Mercedes for two years. Only thing that ever happened to that was the star being bend down towards
the hood every now and then, but it just flips right back due to MB foreseeing this. With BMW it's a whole other ball game - they
are attacked by people who actually likes BMW but just can't afford them. What a way to treat a person with the same interest as yourself, who just actually fulfilled his dream and bought the damn car!
The gravel part was my own fault - I spend 3 hours washing and waxing the car, which made it look much too nice for what is
generally acceptable in this socialistic country. The last few weeks until this happened, I didn't have the time to take proper care
of the BMW, so it was looking rather dirty, but at least it was left alone. Perhaps it's better to let a car like this decay and end
up like a piece of shit like so many other cars. That way, at least it won't be destroyed by vandals!
As a Christmas present in the year 2000, my Mitsubishi had visitors. Unfortunately I wasn't in my car at the time, since it was
night. They wouldn't leave without some music, though, so they helped themselves to my cdplayer. The car was demolished for
more than $2.500 to get that two year old $240 Sony cdplayer. My insurance also went up my by 50% as a result, since the
police doesn't give a shit about catching that scum and the intruders therefore are unknown. If they were caught, however, I
wouldn't have to pay a single dollar myself - insurance company policy. Oh well, guess it's my fault that the police is incompetent, so I am the one who should pay for it...
